Sage & Clare - New Arrivals

13 Jan 2015

Exciting times over at Sage & Clare with the arrival of many new items, including their newest collection.  The 'Silpi' Collection is about taking a series of time- honoured artisanal techniques and pushing the boundaries to make them relevant to our lives today. Every piece in our collection is created by the hands of an artisan, whose trade has been passed from century to century.

One of our favourites from the new collection is the Sundar Chain Stitch cushion (pictured above), featuring Crewel embroidery, the pops of colour in a geometric wonderland are sublime!  Team it with the Jem Handwoven Throw for the ultimate look in your bedroom or living room.

Check out more of their new arrivals like the Concertina Marble Bowl (pictured above) and Lou Lou Flat Weave rug (pictured below) - there's so much too look at it's hard to choose just one thing to buy!

DIY - Teepee and Wallhanging

I Spy DIY have created a brilliant 2 in 1 tutorial using cotton yarn - make your own vibrant hued teepee and wall hanging!  The wall hanging is perfect for decorating a blank wall and adding colour to a space, whilst the teepee is the perfect creation for a little one or party!  Customise the colours, patterns and add more pom poms for your own version.

DIY - Watercolour mugs

5 Jan 2015

Visit I Spy DIY for a simple tutorial on how to create your own watercolour mugs.  I love the colours (since they exactly match my house!) but play with different colours and patterns for your own twist.  The technique could also be easily applied to vases and other ceramic pieces. How great would these  look grouped together on display?!

Bend Goods Furniture

4 Jan 2015

Originating from Los Angeles, Bend is a furniture and product design house that creates inspiring steel-rod and wire chairs made up of intricate, linear arrangements. The manufacturing of Bend’s decorative products and objects engage a hand-crafted method of shaping and spot welding - a process the company calls ‘bending.’ Each ‘bend’ chair is carefully arranged to ensure structural strength, whilst the angles of the back, the curves of the seat and the closeness of the wires are designed to encourage relaxation and utility. Bend goods create more than just chairs, their range also includes tables, decorative objects and lighting.  You may have noticed their amazing furniture in many restaurants and cafes around Australia, including Fonda in Windsor.  I had the pleasure of sitting in a set of Bend bar stools at Fonda over the weekend (whilst indulging myself with their delicious fish tacos), and they are indeed super comfortable!

In Australia, Bend is available through Own World.

DIY - Marble Tray

2 Jan 2015

I was looking for a marble tray when I came across this fabulous DIY tutorial from I Spy DIY.  Marble trays can come with a hefty price tag, and this version should cost you under $30 to make yourself.  I have seen a number of tutorials, using contact papers and painting effects - however I tend to dislike these, given up close you can tell that they aren't the real deal.  This one is so simple you'll wonder why you didn't think of it yourself, and you'll be proud to put it on display in your home!

Twiggargerie - Twig Objects

1 Jan 2015

Twiggargerie pieces are designed by Anita Bell in Devon, UK and lovingly hand built by Brian Bell in Melbourne, Australia

The forms these sculptures take are often from very familiar objects and there is a comfort to be found in them. The pieces are made from natural twigs and have all of the beauty and imperfections of nature left in them so no two pieces will be the same.  Available in a wide range of on trend colours, Twiggargerie also allow their customers to request custom colours to match their decor.

Twiggargerie pieces are designed to bring a little fun and colour into your life and home - I can't wait to get their cross in neon pink into my place!
