Etsy at the Cullen

3 Apr 2015

Etsy.com is undeniably one of my favourite go to places for beautiful handmade and vintage homewares and gifts.  This month, Etsy.com, has partnered with one of Australia’s most remarkable hotels, The Cullen, to create an unforgettable curated accommodation experience.  Between 13th and 29th April 2015, guests will have the opportunity stay in a one-of-a-kind junior penthouse suite at The Cullen, styled with products available on Etsy.com

The brilliant creative duo Marsha Golemac and Brooke Holm are set to curate and style the suite, located in the trendy suburb of Prahran, Melbourne. The products, a mix of handmade and vintage homewares, have been sourced through Australia’s burgeoning Etsy community of makers and finders.

Visitors will also get the chance to experience the suite first hand at an open day on Saturday 11th April. This free event will give visitors the opportunity to tour the curated room and learn about the latest trends in homewares. The products featured in the space will be available for purchase at Etsy.com.

I was lucky enough to be given a sneak preview by the wonderful folks over at Etsy.com of just a few of the artisan makers who will feature in the suite.  See below for your exclusive peek too!

Bookings for the Etsy at The Cullen suite are now open at

Body Polish from Vice & Velvet
Vice & Velvet is a onewoman show. Made in Melbourne, Australia, Vice & Velvet combines an urban influence with a love for natural, sustainably sourced ingredients. Their 100% vegan soaps and natural bath and body products are handmade entirely from scratch; never using premanufactured “bases”.  I sampled their body polish in "Siren", which smelt A-M-A-Z-I-N-G and made my skin feel even better.  Full of organic shea butter, cocoa butter and olive oil, their delightful sugar scrubs exfoliate and moisturise the skin at the same time.

Rustic Bowl Susan Simonini
Susan Simonini handbuilds rustic, functional and decorative pottery from earthy, texture
clays from her homebased ceramics studio on the Gold Coast. This rustic bowl has been hand formed and dipped in a beautiful snowy white glaze, with the rim left unglazed to create a striking contrast between the speckled white surface and the raw clay.  The bowl is simply beautiful and surprisingly lightweight!  I've been using mine to serve organic porridge with fruit and my favourite homemade coco-nutty granola in the mornings.

Linen Tea Towel Bind | Fold
Bind | Fold products are created by Victoria Pemberton, a dyer living and working in Melbourne, Australia. All of her work is created with intent and thoughtfulness, and works are intended to not only be functional, but also to be things of beauty. Her 100% Linen Eco Tea Towels are hand dyed using natural Indigo in a range of shibori technique and shades.

Plant Feelings Zine Ashley Ronning
Ashley Ronning is an illustrator and designer based in Brunswick.  The Plant Feelings Zine is filled with drawings and thoughts about feelings towards plants.  The insides are risographed with pinky/bluey/purple mix experimental riso ink on a random selection of green, purple, white and yellow paper.
